A lesson among the worms

Amongst the throngs of shallow hearts
You hear....
You fear...
The worst...of course you do
Upon noticing the world as it is
You steal....appeal....deal
With reality on its terms
For its lessons are what brings you to today
Just another way
Of beginning your day with the passion
You so richly exude
The sum of you....of your ravenous ways
Plays but a small part in the cognitive indictments
Excitement....alright then....let it go
Slow...slowly....you lowly little creature
For the worms are already getting hungry
